65/66 Marlin and Classic Grille and
Headlight Door Information
A discussion on grilles and headlight doors in regards to
Classics (series 10) and Marlins (series 50) recently came up on the AMC-List (see http://www.amxfiles.com/amc-list.html for
more information on joining or to read the list online). There was some confusion on what
would work and what would not. I did some research and here's what I found:
- There are 2 types of headlight doors for Classics and 2
types for Marlin's for 1966. 1965's only have 1 type for each vehicle.
- There are 2 grilles. 1 for Classic, 1 for Marlin and the
grilles are different between years.
- The headlight assembles (retaining ring and bucket) are
different between the headlight door types (applies to 1966 only)
Marlin's and Classic's DO NOT share grilles and headlight
doors. These can be switched as complete assemblies. If you have Type 1 doors on one car
and Type 2 on the other (applies to 1966 only), the headlight assemblies will need changed
as well.

Vertical bar - center 448-2860
Vertical bar - outer (2 required) 448-2861
Headlight door - outer 351-5951 (left) 351-5950 (right)
Headlight door - inner 351-5953 (left) 351-5952 (right)
Headlight assembly - outer 351-5946
Headlight assembly - outer 351-5944
1966 Classic
Grille - 355-3171
